Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is direct specialty care?

Direct specialty care (DSC) is a model where you work directly with your physician—no insurance middlemen,

no rushed visits, and no surprise bills. It allows for longer, more thoughtful appointments and a relationship

built on trust, not time limits.

2. Do you take insurance?

No, we don’t bill insurance or third parties—and that’s intentional. Our care is based on a simple, monthly fee

structure. This allows us the freedom to offer longer visits, deeper conversations, and a more personalized

experience without the red tape or rushed appointments insurance often requires.

By removing the administrative burden of insurance billing, we can focus entirely on what matters most—your

care. It also means more time with your doctor, clearer pricing, and a better experience for everyone. When

we’re not buried in paperwork, we get to practice medicine the way we were trained to: with time,

thoughtfulness, and trust.

3. What’s included in membership?

Membership includes direct access to your physician, extended appointments, personalized care plans, routine

follow-ups, messaging between visits, and lifestyle support. Additional services like labs, medications or

imaging are not included in membership fees.

4. Do you offer hormone therapy?

Yes. We provide personalized hormone therapy for both women and men, guided by symptoms, labs, and your goals. We don’t do cookie-cutter protocols—your care is tailored to you.

5. Do you prescribe weight loss medications?

Yes. When medically appropriate, we prescribe evidence-based weight loss medications such as semaglutide

(Wegovy, Ozempic), tirzepatide (Zepbound, Mounjaro), liraglutide (Saxenda), Contrave

(bupropion/naltrexone), and Qsymia (phentermine/topiramate). These can be powerful tools when used as part of a comprehensive, personalized plan.

Medication coverage depends on your individual insurance plan. We encourage you to check your plan’s

formulary to see if these medications are included. If needed, we can submit prior authorization paperwork to

help with insurance approval.

6. Will you take care of all my medical needs?

At Sakinah Health, my role is to support your well-being by focusing on hormone optimization, healthy weight management, and metabolic balance. I don't serve as your full-scope primary care provider, but I'm here as a partner alongside your existing doctors. Together, we can create a plan that feels safe, personalized, and aligned with your health journey.

7. What can I expect from the meet-and-greet visit?

The meet and greet is a free 15-minute call held over Zoom. It’s a chance for you to ask questions, learn more

about Sakinah Health’s membership model, and see if our approach to care is the right fit for your needs and

goals.

While we won’t discuss medical issues or provide treatment during this visit, you’ll walk away with a clear

understanding of what it’s like to be a member—and how we can support you if you decide to join.

8. Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for Sakinah Health?

Many members are typically able to use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

for direct primary care memberships, but eligibility can vary depending on your plan and how your HSA/FSA

administrator interprets IRS rules. Talk to your accountant or benefits provider for specific plan rules and

details.

*Important: Starting January 1, 2026, new federal rules are scheduled to take effect which should allow use of

your HSA/FSA funds to be used towards DPC memberships. Talk to your accountant about your specific

HSA/FSA plan details.

9. Do you accept Medicare patients?

At this time, Medicare rules do not allow me to see or enroll Medicare patients in my clinic. If you have

Medicare and would like to join in, you can sign up on our Medicare Waiting List, and we’ll notify

you as soon as enrollment opens.
